Quality Education in India: An Important Factor

A crucial deciding factor of the entire development of the knowledge economy is quality education in India. An educated and trained person is independent and leads a successful life. As the economy depends on its educated populace, quality education in India is all that is desired. While it has taken colossal efforts to increase the literacy rate, the results have been very insignificant. Because of the conveyance of quality education in India, it is now one of Asia’s strongest education systems.

The government has espoused numerous schemes and programs to impart quality education in India. Plans of operation black board, mid-day meal scheme, and national literacy mission are only some of the initiatives used by the government to infuse and instill to children quality education in India. Another important factor which helps in imparting quality education in India is education without discrimination. For this purpose the government has reservations for schedule class, schedule tribe and other backward classes of society. Through quality education in India a person is learned about his social responsibilities. He would also try to abolish the social malpractices of caste system, untouchability, and sati which is practiced even today in remote areas of the country.

Most importantly, quality education in India is very vital in shaping the future of millions of children and in turn the future of the nation. Therefore, quality education in India does not only target to provide literacy rate but the complete development of the children’s personality.

There are government as well as many private schools, institutions and universities which provide quality education in India. These institutions teach children to learn things in a different way. Hence, innovation is also an aspect of quality education in India. It should also include extracurricular activities like sports, games, music, art, dance, debate and project works. The child’s reasoning and analytical skills should be improved through quality education in India. Residential schools infuse discipline and responsibility into the children.

It is said that for every school opened, three jails can be closed. This fact brings us to reality about the ills prevailing in our society due to the lack of quality education in India. The crime rate can be brought down drastically if proper education is imparted to the underprivileged.

As the significance of quality education in India has increased and the masses are becoming aware of it, quite a few teaching colleges have cropped up. This is due to the main reason of a teacher being a huge impact on the child’s learning process and future. Quality education can be improvised by the improvement of teaching skills and methods of the faculty. Therefore, these teaching institutes aim at producing brilliant teachers to provide refined quality education in India.

If quality education in India is provided to all including the underprivileged, it would help in the upliftment of the society and would be a positive boost to the economy of the nation. As responsible citizens, we have to contribute our help in providing good education to every child. It is only quality education in India that can take the country forward from a developing nation to a developed nation.

Coming To Understand Arithmetic Through The Use Of Entertaining Activities

Truly, there is no age in a child’s life that isn’t a bad age when it comes to teaching even elementary arithmetic or mathematics. It can be something as simple as teaching a young toddler who can barely walk how many marbles are lying next to a circle drawn in the dirt. Or it can be as complex as sitting that same toddler down in front of a computer-based math game.

There have been numerous academic studies that looked at the question of kids and mathematics and how they learned best. It would seem that presenting them with learning environments that are both nonthreatening and also entertaining when it comes to math seems to work in ways that also help kids increase their ability to learn such skills as they mature. Using games, seems to be a relatively easy way to accomplish all this.

Nowadays, a great many teachers and mathematics educators in all grades have found that entertaining and educational games and other tools can help them move children along and progress them through increasingly difficult stages of mathematics learning. Many of these tools include online activities and websites that can break down even complex mathematics problems through games, basically.

This wasn’t always the case, as many educators, when it came to teaching mathematics or arithmetic or any branch of the two often believed that rote memorization and repetition was the best way to drill into a student’s head the various formulas and even the basic four functions necessary to get started out doing so-called “mathematics.”

Nowadays, the World Wide Web is full of online activities and games that can help the most recalcitrant of students slowly begin to become more motivated to actually engage in mathematics reasoning and calculations. Additionally, such websites have been shown to be able to improve grades through exciting, interactive and highly effective online game playing activities.

Given that much of this activity now takes place online, it’s even more attractive to kids who have been raised on the Internet. They have a way to log on and start playing math games that are both enjoyable and extremely instructional. This includes mathematics at every level, from the basic four functions all the way up to trigonometry. And they are really games, which tend to teach children more effectively than mere rote memorization.

Even high school students have reported that problems they’ve had in the past with mathematics have been resolved through the use of enjoyable mathematics activities and games by using these types of software packages. All of them come with a number of features, including comprehensive tutorials and exercises and solutions that are disguised within the game playing framework.

At present, there really should be no barrier presented to teachers and educators when it comes to taking students who have been struggling with mathematics or taking students who are preparing to learn their first kinds of mathematics and arithmetic. Educators who can take children as early as possible and get them started the right way report that these children invariably do better as they mature, and that’s a really impressive achievement.

It’s never too early to start learning to enjoy mathematics through games and other activities, especially as our world grows ever more complex and the need to be able to engage in high-level problem-solving becomes important. More info on fun maths at http://www.whizz.com/

Importance of College Atmosphere in a Student’s Grooming

College or school at the time of teenage and work place during the job time, is the place, where most of the students or the employees spend most of their time. The person is sure to have a great impact, from the atmosphere of the place and the personality type and nature possessed by the people belonging to that particular place. Especially, when a student is in a school or college, he is in a learning age, an age, where he tends to adopt changes very frequently, the changes, which can be seen affecting his daily activities quite fast. Therefore, the college atmosphere or the environment plays a major role in shaping the career of the student.

The student at the time of his college days is very innocent and is like an earthen pot, which given and directed in whichever shape, will mould according to the same. The colleges are said to possess a very encouraging and motivating environment, which adds on to the learning and the understanding will of the students. Therefore, it becomes necessary for the colleges to keep a check on the atmosphere in college. Following are the points, which should be kept in mind by the colleges, to maintain a healthy and an inspiring environment in the arenas of the institute:

- The atmosphere of the colleges in India should directly correspond to the education field, for which the students has enrolled in that particular college. By having mention of the subject field, around the college premises, makes the student feel being an integral part of the course structure and also works as an individual space for him, where he can prove his skills to a larger scale.

- The student’s should be provided with enough space to improvise his talent and work on the areas where he lacks behind. The facilities to inculcate the needed information should be provided to the students. Excellent library, practical labs, should be provided to the students so that they can polish their skills and do practical on the respective fields and topics.

- Research department and labs are very important for the student to process his innovative skills and produce positive results out of the hard work and the intelligence invested.

- Good knowledge and helping teachers, lecturers and professors are very much important in a college, to let the students clear out their doubts freely. If the teachers are very rigid and rude, then it becomes very difficult for the students to come up and ask counter questions, which would act as barrier in their learning and understanding process. Teachers should be polite and frank to let the students gain the most out of their time spent in the college and excel in their respective subjects.

- There should separate divisions for the co- curricular activities for the students in the college, where the students, can spend a soothing and a quality time for the nourishment of their X- factors. Taking out time, for the extra workouts, or co- curricular activities, helps a student adding the factor of calmness and peace in his life. These things, also helps the student in being more active and willing towards producing more of extra- ordinary results.

Thus, one can say, that the overall atmosphere of the college is a very important factor in itself, to help the students shaping a well structured and future oriented career. The students can actually learn a lot and motivate himself to achieve the best. Also, if the college possesses an environment of competition, then it again boosts up the moral of the student to prove him as the best among the lot. Thus, it’s not only the course or family background or the student’s calibre, but a lot much is also contributed by the college atmosphere, which helps a student in scribing his name in the cream list of the society.

How The Romanized Chinese Equivalent Pinyin Evolved

Chinese has been regarded as one of the most difficult languages to master. For the westerner, grown up on a language background of Roman alphabets, two big stumbles are tones and characters. Intonation is an important part of English, but changing the stress applied on certain syllables of a word does not significantly change the meaning of the word. In Chinese, changing the tone of a word can significantly alter its meaning. You can spell and write down an English word by following the pronunciation. In Chinese you won’t get any help when you want to write a word by simply listening to its pronunciation, no matter how slow or clear the word is uttered. A lot of new Chinese language learners complain that Chinese characters be just replaced by pinyin, to make the study easier. In fact this is an effort that has been made in the past.

Four hundred years ago in China’s Ming Dynasty, Christian missionaries from the West were trying hard to find out an easier and efficient way to learn Chinese. Matteo Ricci, an Italian Jesuit priest played initiator in employing Latin letters to mark the sound of words and pronunciation in Chinese. Since then people have tried to make this system more learner friendly. Until the early 20th century, the system was popular only among foreigners, missionaries and businessmen in China.

Realizing that the traditional Chinese writing system hampers China’s mass education, many Chinese intellectuals launched a Chinese Romanization movement of their own in early twentieth century. In 1928, Zhao Yuanren, the best linguist in China introduced the Gwoyeu Romotzyh Pinin Faashyh as the standard for Chinese Romanization. Gwoyeu Romatzyh did not use diacritic tone marks, but employed an inventive set of tonal spellings to mark tones. It had been very popular among teachers and students studying Chinese languages in the US. At the same time, many communist revolutionaries were also sympathetic to the idea of Romanization.

From 1920s, the Communist Party of China started taking shape, developing and gaining in power. As an emerging party with a louder voice over the feudal lords, it followed the words of its ally; the former Soviet Union who sanctioned the Romanization of Chinese characters, encouraging its implementation. As a campaign of language reformation, Romanization of Chinese characters into an independent language was propagandized throughout China. In 1931, Qu Qiubai’s Latinhua Xinwenz was adopted at a conference by Chinese nationals in the Soviet. This script had no provision for marking tones, and was much simpler than Gwoyeu Romatzyh. Mao Zedong, the former leader of CPC, was a great supporter of Romanization. He felt that the Romanized new language could serve as a great tool to impart ideologies and learning among peasants and the vast majority of China’s uneducated population. During Second World War in the 1940s, as the leader of the temporary communist government Mao declared that the Romanized Chinese language had the same legitimate right as traditional Chinese characters.

After 1949, the communist government set up a committee to emphasize on the necessity of reforming the language and addressed the possibility of Romanization to comply traditional Chinese languages with the common Latin writing system around the world. After years of consideration, a new scheme called Hanyu Pinyin Fang’an was announced in 1958. However it was only in 1979 that the Hanyu Pinyin came to be adopted as the international standard for Chinese Romanization.

Pinyin has been single handedly instrumental in popularizing the Chinese languages. Many people today are interested in Chinese language tutorials or to study abroad in China. It is interesting to know that pinyin has been treated as an alternative for Chinese characters in Chinese language study, especially for foreigners whose objective is to learn communicative Chinese and improve audible comprehension. Pinyin is being regarded as the transitional stage in Chinese learning. It is also used to help beginners with correct pronunciation. And with online Chinese learning tools, pinyin has made Chinese learning so much quicker. With Chinese pinyin input application, you can type Chinese characters without worrying much about stroke order.

However there are certain drawbacks. Marking tones efficiently for pinyin using certain applications is at times troublesome. It is common for one pinyin spelling to mean different words. While it is possible to understand the pinyin by reading the exact contexts, it will be a huge test to guess the meaning of word or phrases without the context. Also, different character components like prefixes, roots, suffixes would change meaning and message if transferred to Romanized pinyin.

The original Chinese script with its wealth of characters is a great treasury of Chinese culture and tradition. There is a plethora of classical literature which is written in traditional Chinese characters. The substitution of the Chinese character would result in a great loss of these precious resources.

Who Discovered America

America’s discovery is still controversial as there are many versions and each of them claims to be true. Long time before Christopher Columbus landed in America, there were many expeditions to the continent.

Modern scientists suggest that Asian hunters crossed the Bering Strait on land bridges into Alaska which occurred during the last Ice Age. These early Asians travelled across North and South America where they set up communities. They are possibly the ancestors of the North and South America Indians.

America is described as a land rich with gold and silver in the ancient history book Puranas and the Indian epic Mahabharata. Early Hindu historians claim that Argentina is derived from the name ‘Arjuna’ which means full of silver. A Hindu heroic character is also called Arjuna. Many people of today consider the histories in Puranas as myths. However myths also have little fact. A German scholar named Alexander von Humbolt had studied Puranas in which he came across deep information of America’s long history. The ancient Hindu Aztec Chakra and the Aztec calendar matches with each other. Ancient Eastern cultures particularly Indian were strongly influenced by the Mayans, Indians and Aztecs.

The Scots and Irish have their own version of story to tell. Irish say that a monk named St Brendan who lived between 484 and 578 AD discovered America. He had constructed monasteries in Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland. At an old age, he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in search for a Promise Land. His voyage lasted for seven years and he reached the shores of North America.

Timothy Severin made a similar journey in 1977. He used early Celtic navigation tools when he sailed from Dingle, Ireland to Newfoundland, Canada. He reached there in a same manner like St. Brendan.

America was discovered by Columbus on 12th October 1942. One morning, he looked from the bow of the ship and saw land. He was sailing with his crew for ten weeks. He was searching for Spice Islands, on seeing the land he thought that he had reached East Indies. He was unaware that he was in the Bahamas but human settlements were seen on the islands.

At that time, America was not known to the Europe. Columbus might not be the first European who arrived in North America. During the same time, Vikings were venturing to the North America.

There are a number of claims till today. The Welsh, Chinese and Portuguese are joining the dispute. It seems that there is a new discovery every year. An ancient historian said that America could have been settled several thousand years ago.

History of Berlin Wall

The Cold War that continued for over 40 years was a struggle between two ideologies. The Berlin Wall was one structure that was the most recognizable symbols that symbolized the struggle between the East and West. The Cold War eventually ended with the tearing down Berlin Wall.

When the World War II ended, the Nazi Germany was sliced into four specific occupation zones, they would from this point be controlled by the Allied powers that included the British, French, Russians and the Americans. The city of Berlin was also divided in to four zones controlled by four Allied members. When the Cold War began in 1949, the Soviets formed a new state called German Democratic Republic (GDR) which included Americans while French consolidated their regions forming one state called Federal Republic of Germany including West Britain.

The two countries started to diverge quickly as they were based on different ideologies. The ideology of West Germany was based on democratic government and West’s free market system. The GDR was based on communist ideology and Soviet Style planned economy. After a short time of few years when each country was formed, there were great differences in quality of style and life. West Germany and West Berlin became quite prosperous during the early 1950′s and East Berlin and GDR lagged behind. Many in East Germany and East Berlin started emigrating.

Many living in the Eastern countries crossed through borders at East and West Berlin to flee the Sovietization and Joseph Stalin. There was no natural border between East and West Berlin in the early 1950s and the traffic moved freely between the cities. A lot of East Berliners moved back and forth between the border during this time. With the passage of time, the exodus to the West caused the Soviet Union and GDR to take action.

During the 1950s, nearly a million citizens left the GDR for the West. It was causing an enormous brain drain since most the people who were highly skilled and educated.

During the early 1950s, the East/West Berlin border could be easily crossed. As the Soviets and the Eastern Bloc countries including the GDR started to crack down on emigration, a meeting took place between leaders of East Germany and Stalin on April 1, 1952. Stalin told the East Germans to quickly build up the border and to create a demarcation line between East and West Germany, a border which the East Germans will guard with their lives.

As a result of the meeting, border between East and West Germany was closed and a barbed wire fence was erected. With the rise of restrictions, many Eastern Bloc citizens and East Germans started fearing further tightening and started to emigrate.

In 1956, as emigration continued on a large scale under the disguise of family visits, the East German eliminated all travel to the West. As the Berlin border was administered by the four occupying powers, many East Germans and Eastern Bloc citizens were able to find ways through Berlin to the West. By the end of 1950s, nearly 90% emigrants came through the border at Berlin. Since there was no natural border and there were even subway train access to East Berlin, Berlin was considered by many to be the most practical way for crossing into West Germany.

The emigration problem was doing plenty of damage to not only East Germany but Eastern Bloc countries for more than a decade. In 1961, the border issue came to a head and on 12th August 1961, Walter Ulbricht, the First Secretary of the Socialist Part and GDR State Council Chairman closed the border and built a wall to separate East and West Berlin.

The construction of wall began at midnight on Sunday 13th August 1961. The Berlin Wall was built on the inside of East Berlin and East Germany to ensure that none of the Allied borders were infringed on. On 15th August, concrete slabs of the Berlin Wall started to be laid.

With the construction of the Berlin Wall, many citizens of East Germany tried to defect by climbing over the wall. About 5000 people successfully escaped to West Berlin during the time the wall was erected. Many people also died trying to cross the wall. Being one of the many symbols of communism, it is no surprise that with the decline and eventual end of the Soviet Union and communism also came the destruction of the Berlin Wall.

On 9th November 1989, Krenz decided to allow emigration directly through crossing the East German border into the West. The new border crossing regulations were to be implemented on November 10 in order to give the border guards enough time to prepare. From November 9 on, the Berlin Wall was quickly chipped away, using sledge hammers, construction tools, etc. The official dismantling of the Berlin Wall began on 13th June 1990. Both the GDR and West Germany agreed to reunify. Reunification officially took place on 3rd October 1990.

History of Crop Circles

Crop circles became popular in the early 1990s when two Englishmen had revealed that they were behind the mysterious shapes popping in Southern England for the last 15 years. They are formed of complex designs drawn in corn, barley or wheat fields. They are flat areas which are formed into a particular shape visible from above and also spanning large areas.

A lot of speculations exist about the origin of crop circles ranging from complete hoaxes to alien invasion theories. The truth is that no one is absolutely sure about their origin. Many accounts of crop circles findings go back to the 19th century. This makes on believe that their existence has somehow nothing or little to do with humans. Crop circles are found in many countries across the world but there is an extraordinary concentration in certain parts of England.

Crop circles have different forms and mostly are a patchwork of different sized circles. Their smooth and majestic looks give a supernatural appearance in the human mind. However, possible suggest that there is nothing more involved than few ropes, a board and a ladder.

Crop circles surfaced in the news in 1991 and are credited with Dave Chorley and Doug Bower as the makers of multiple creations in the south of England. They claimed that they crafted crop circles in southern England for the last 15 years in quest for fame.

Many groups formed across the world to learn the skill and develop new techniques. These events established the possibility for humans to make crop circles while shedding some light on the origins of some. However, it did not prove that all of the crop circles were made by man.

A theory surfaced in the early 19th century that crop circles has something to do with electrical activities during thunderstorms. Several accounts suggest that thunderstorms caused damage to certain fields and left circular shapes. However, there is no proper scientific research to prove the theory but it has not been completely ignored.

There have also been possible links to extraterrestrial activities that were inevitable flourished since many years. The major argument to support the opinion is regarding the reports of UFO sightings near sites of crop circles. These varied theories include UFO landings, messages from extraterrestrial beings or physical representation of human consciousness.

Variety of independent researchers has claimed to prove the non-human origin of certain crop circles but without showing recognition. Conspiracy theories on part of the government are also extensively mentioned for making lack of solid evidence to prove such theories.

Crop circles continue to charm people because of their hidden mystery. Its presence has also become a hallmark in pop culture, inspiring tourism and TV shows and movies showing new interpretations to the people.
